Apollo Beach, A Community on Tampa Bay's ShoresNeighborhood roads lined with palm trees, beach areas within walking distance and the visible St. Petersburg skyline across Tampa Bay are a few of the perks that residents love about Apollo Beach. Located in SouthShore, on the waters of Tampa Bay, Apollo Beach is speckled with beautiful waterfront communities. Growth began in Apollo in the late 1950's when Francis Corr purchased the land from Paul Dickman and constructed 50 homes here. Executives began moving into the area because of its attractive beachfront property and its close proximity to surrounding cities. MiraBay is the latest development built on Florida's largest open water estuary. Dolphins and manatees visit the waters of this development as it sits on over 1,000 acres of a natural preserve. The waterfront communities of Andalucia and Symphony Isles offer residents a private beach area and panoramic view across the Bay of downtown Tampa and St. Petersburg, as well as deep-water canal front living.

Take an afternoon and visit the Tampa Electric Manatee Viewing Center. Located next to Tampa Electric Big Bend power plant, you can watch the Manatees basking in their natural environment during the winter. The adjoining Environmental Education Building provides information about the Florida manatee including a mini theater, a manatee skeleton, murals replicating Tampa Bay's floor and the Audubon of Florida bird display. Bird Island resides north of Apollo Beach and is the largest bird rookery east of the Mississippi River.
Take on a little friendly competition at the Apollo Beach Recreation Park where you can try you're luck or flex your skill at basketball, volleyball, softball and tennis. The Apollo Beach Racquet & Fitness Club offers plenty of fun ways to stay fit. With its five tennis courts, heated 25-yard Junior Olympic pool, and Boys & Girls Sports Camp. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon at the Apollo Beach Nature Preserve, a peaceful spot for sunbathing, picnicking and fishing. Guided fishing charters are another fun way to enhance a day on the water. Tampa Sailing Squadron also finds its home here offering a variety of sailing activities.
All kinds of dining options are available in the general SouthShore area, from fine yet casual dining waterfront eateries such as Circles at Lands End Marina and the Dolphin Grill to family restaurants and sports bars.
