Few counties in Florida enjoy a more salubrious year-round climate than Citrus County. Summer days average 82 degrees, moderated by constant breezes from the lakes and the Gulf of Mexico; while winter lows average 62 degrees. Benefiting from well managed growth for the past two decades, Citrus County is now home to more than 113,898 people and is expected to grow to 123,717 by the year 2000.

Years of planned restoration, highlighted by the recent restoration of the county's turn-of-the century courthouse, bathe the county seat of Inverness in the ambiance of times past, when life moved at a more relaxed pace and trees shaded storefronts and Victorian homes along Main Street.

Floral City is home to the annual Strawberry Festival, one of the county's largest weekend celebrations, a perfect setting beneath a canopy of ancient oak trees, many of them over 100 feet tall and more than two centuries old.

Crystal River is internationally known as a center for diving, snorkeling, and fishing. Kings Bay, which is fed by Florida's second largest springhead, provides easy access to the Gulf and a winter gathering place for the easily observed manatee.

A paradise for the salt water-fishing enthusiast, Homosassa provides everything a visiting fisherman could need. Off shore, some of the largest Tarpon on record have been captured. Close to US 19, the State of Florida manages the Homosassa State Wildlife Park where an under water observatory permits visitors to observe fish and manatees in their natural habitat. Since its birth in 1959 as "Florida's Retirement Hometown", more than 12,000 people from every corner of the nation have settled in Beverly Hills.

The once rural villages of Hernando and Lecanto are emerging as the county's administrative, business and education centers. Both communities provide easy access to the northern section of the Withlacoochee Forest. Founded on January 4, 1970, Citrus Springs is the largest planned urban development in Citrus County, with 32,000 homesites and 465 miles of roads and associated infrastructure. Its many park sites include Greenbelt access to a pristine section of the Withlacoochee and crystal clear Rainbow Springs.

Surrounded by the beauty of nature within a prosperous business climate Citrus County is one of Florida's great locations for work and play. Citrus County Chamber online
